Crop Production
Brome Rotation to Roundup Ready Beans or Corn  04/18/03 2:46:06 PM

We are too early to spray out brome. The timing is usually the last part of April to the first part of May, weather and growth pending. We will monitor the timing.
Roundup beans or corn are recomended, because a perfect kill is not always the case and with a roundup ready crop, any post treatment will help knock out brome escapes.
The rate of Roundup Weathermax should be 30oz. If a farmer plans to plant a non-Roundup crop, 40oz of Weathermax should be used. There would be no second treatments to get brome escapes on a non-Roundup crop.
